MENTAL TOUGHNESS

Shooting in bad conditions does help for your mental toughness by learning how to shoot in the cold, wind, and rain. This challenges you and forces your body to adapt then gives your body to recover

ALWAYS SHOOT IN BAD WEATHER?

Shooting one or half a day in some bad.

weather is fine but shooting in horrific weather for days will not help. This is detrimental to your technique.

You would be better off shooting some more blank boss

NOT GOOD FOR YOUR OVERALL TECHNIQUE

Shooting in bad conditions is not helpful for your technique. Being in the cold could injure you as your body is stiffer and harder to warm up.

Being blown around by the wind compromises a lot in your form and it will also be harder to identify mistakes

and get feedback.

TOP ARCHERS WON'T ALWAYS BE SHOOTING IN BAD CONDITIONS

Not all clubs will have a covered area to shoot archery.

The best archers will shoot in fairly ideal conditions 80-90% of the time because of great facilities for training.

You spend a lot of time and energy improving your shooting. So take these easy score improvements and

PINS

Pin nocks can definitely save your arrow shafts when they get hit, but when they do, these pins can bend and your nock can have a different angle on the string. Make sure you always change your pin if your nock has been hit. Even if the pin looks fine it can be bent.

FLETCHES

Have a look at your fletches and make sure there is no wear, tear, bends, and crumples. If they're all good, make sure they are in their proper place and evenly spaced.

NOCKS

Your nock is the contact point to your string. Make sure it's not bent and hasn't been hit before. If it has,

replace it immediately. Also, replace any nocks with cracks. Don't risk shooting with a damaged nock as this can partially dry fire your bow when it fails on your release. Save your bow and regularly replace your nocks.

YOUR ARROWS SHOULD BE IDENTICAL

Your arrows are one of the most important parts of your equipment and you want them to be as identical as possible. You can have the best bow but if you have a bad set of arrows, you'll still shoot badly.

So what should you check on your arrows so they fly as well as possible?

MAINTAIN YOUR ARROWS

DON'T LET YOUR THUMB JUST HANG ON THE GRIP

The whole bow arm is affected when this happens. Not directing with your thumb compromises the bow arm because the

force of the bow is not nicely going up into the shoulder as the hand will slide around the grip.

This causes an inconsistent pressure point.
